Choosing to enter a luxury rehab center is one of the most important decisions you'll ever make. But what does the experience actually look like? For many people, the word "rehab" conjures images of sterile hospital-like environments, group sessions in folding chairs, and a rigid, impersonal schedule. Luxury rehab is nothing like that.

Arrival and Assessment

Your luxury rehab experience begins before you even arrive. Our team conducts thorough pre-arrival consultations to understand your history, goals, and medical needs. Upon arrival at our private oceanfront estate, you're welcomed into a serene, beautiful environment that feels more like an exclusive resort than a clinical facility. A comprehensive medical assessment follows, including blood work, cardiac screening, and psychological evaluation to create your fully personalized treatment plan.

Your Personalized Treatment Protocol

Unlike traditional rehab where everyone follows the same program, luxury rehab provides a completely individualized protocol. At Sanctuary Tulum, your plan might include ibogaine treatment for addiction interruption, NAD+ IV therapy for neurochemical restoration, stem cell treatments for cellular repair, ayahuasca ceremonies for deep emotional healing, and daily one-on-one sessions with your dedicated therapy team.

The Daily Experience

Each day is structured but flexible, built around your individual needs. Mornings might begin with breathwork and meditation overlooking the Caribbean, followed by your scheduled treatments. Gourmet organic meals are prepared by private chefs to support your body's healing. Afternoons may include energy healing sessions, float therapy, or simply time to rest and reflect in your private suite. The pace is intentionally unhurried — healing cannot be rushed.

Privacy and Exclusivity

At a true luxury rehab center, privacy is paramount. Sanctuary Tulum accommodates only a small number of guests at any time, ensuring complete discretion and undivided attention. There are no shared rooms, no group therapy with strangers, and no rigid institutional schedules. Your healing journey is entirely your own.

Aftercare and Integration

The luxury rehab experience doesn't end when you leave. Comprehensive aftercare planning, ongoing integration support, and follow-up consultations ensure that the transformation you experience continues long after your stay. Many guests report that their time in luxury rehab was the turning point that changed everything.

Arrival, Intake, and the First 48 Hours

Guests are met at Cancún International by a private driver and transferred south to Tulum, roughly 90 minutes down the coast. On-site intake includes medical evaluation, labs where indicated, and a structured conversation with the clinical lead to align on goals for the stay. The first 48 hours prioritize rest, hydration, and settling into the program's rhythm.

A Realistic Daily Schedule

Mornings: gentle movement (yoga, breathwork, or a beach walk), medical rounds, and the day's IV therapy. Midday: nutrient-dense meals prepared to individual dietary requirements, followed by one-on-one clinical work. Afternoons: adjunct modalities — HBOT, red light, bodywork, colon hydrotherapy, ozone, or ceremonial preparation depending on the program arc. Evenings: integration, journaling, and rest. Ceremony days follow a different structure, cleared clinically in advance.

Family, Communication, and Discharge

Devices are permitted but structured. Family involvement is arranged case by case; some programs include a family day mid-stay. Discharge planning starts in the second week and includes a written aftercare plan — continued clinical support at home, IV maintenance where appropriate, and integration check-ins. Relapse rates for substance use disorders sit in the 40–60% range,1 which is why we treat aftercare as part of the program rather than as a hand-off.

The Clinical Team You Actually Work With

A well-run luxury program is not a resort with a wellness overlay. The clinical team includes a medical director (typically an addiction medicine or internal medicine physician), a psychiatrist or psychiatric consultant, nursing coverage twenty-four hours a day, a licensed nutritionist, and one-to-one integration clinicians. Guests should be able to name the physician on their case and reach them.

Ratios matter. A program advertising a full spectrum of therapies with a single overworked clinician on site is describing a marketing menu rather than a delivery model. Ask specifically about after-hours physician coverage and about staff-to-guest ratios during weekends and holidays.

Family Contact, Devices, and Privacy

Policies on family contact, phone and laptop access, and privacy vary widely across the category and matter more than most first-time guests expect. Sanctuary Tulum's default is to hold devices during the acute stabilization window, then reintroduce them with structure — protected work windows for guests who cannot fully step away, and scheduled family calls handled by the clinical team so the conversations are supported.

Confidentiality is contractual and enforced. No press, no photography, no cross-guest disclosure. That structure is part of what makes it possible for public-facing guests to engage the work honestly rather than perform it.
